Current thinking on the various forums is that this is a "one off" feed to be used nationally for FREESAT. The existing FTV feeds (requiring SKY card) will continue for the forseeable future. Only if C4 can get enough capacity on 2D to switch accross seven regional versions of C4 plus their seven +1 siblings will we lose them on the current beam.

Based on the Freesat EPG data monitored by a DS Forum member, More 4 and E4 will also soon be free to air on this 2D frequency.

The company i work for provides uplink for c4 e4 and more4 are on the same transponder at the moment but encrypted but will go fta very soon as they are tests at the moment but will stay on that frequency,

The plan is to keep that feed for ch4 networks on that frequency for freesat and also sky digibox feed and get rid of the regional versions of ch4 on the other frequencies,

The plans it to keep all the main PSB channels on a UK spot beam and move any PSB channels eg five to a UK spot beam asap,

Also there is a transponder swap due to take place within the next week to move the remaining encrypted channels of 2d for room for ch5 and other fta channels

Do you think they will remove the channel five from 2C when this happens?

No they won't ....channel 5 have no plans of leaving the BSKYB platform! Only the Channel 4 networks will be joining freesat! Channel 5 will remain encrypted with NDS and available to mainland Europe! Rest Assured!! :)

I'm sure that is very reassuring for those in Fringe areas, but on what information do you base your statement?

NONE of the psb services will be leaving the Sky platform any time soon - if for no other reason they cant afford to throw away the viewers in the 8 million Sky homes.

Five will go on Freesat eventually - remember what happened to ITV's viewing figures when they held out joining the Sky epg? And for that to happen they will have to join the Astra 2D spotbeam,
