Hi all

1st time poster living in Germany
i,ve got sky tv but my contract is up for renewel & not going to renew it .
need to know if sky will switch off my card completely or will I still be able to get channel 5 ?

thanks for your help and replies

If you can get BBC1,2,3,4 ect (ie Astra 2D), then Five is Free To Air on the same Satellite.

But Sky Boxes access an Encrypted version of Five (As I suspect you know!) and once your Sub ceases, your Card will remain alive with respect to being able to decode Five (also Fiver, Five US and a couple of others which escape me at present).

So, the basic answer is YES.

so they switch channel five off but I can somehow still decode it with my card ????

No your card is deactivated for the PAY channels once you cancel your subscription.
It should, if your Sky sub is cancelled the correct way, continue to allow access to the FTV channels - like Five, Fiver Five USA, Sky 3, VCiva, LFCTC, 8 ITV1 regions (12402 and 11973), ITVHD (11973), C4s (12480)
Even then, if you want the FTA version of Five - scan 10773 h 22 5/6 for the FTA version.

Five is not a Subscription Channel, but is "Rights Protected", so requires Encryption for the versions transmitted on Satellites easily receivable outside the UK: The ex-Sub Sky Card will continue to perform the Decryption even after your Sub ceases.

These peculiar channels (Encrypted, but not Subscription) are generally called FTV (Free To View" as opposed to FTA (Free To Air).

But the answer to your question is YES!!

Unless you let them know you are in Germany - in which case they will completely deactivate the card and Five etc will not work (although FTA version of Five can be viewed via "other channels"

SSSP Plug Echolink cccam 100% OK

You need to work on your terminiology - the free C5 verson is for for Freesat not Freeview & your ftv card went off not your fta card :D
