I would just like to thank @RimaNTSS for going out of his way and getting me this new mount, it arrived safely this morning and ive just picked it up :), thank you Rimants your a good un:)

Hi samoloko, yes I can make them, I will be making one in the near future for my 1.8, at a later date when I have my workshop built I will be making them to order, but there is a Q, if you need one asap satellite super store have them ready made on the shelf.
 
don't like ss polar mount
I like original channel master mount
I do have a Channel Matser 1.8 Az/El mount - can you offer a part of the polar mount to be attached to l profiles of az/el mount

So that's what you meant "hands off my mount"...
But now it's time to spill the beans:

What will you use this for?
You have a CM120 on a Polar Mount
And a CM180 on currently a H2H motor, soon to be another polar mount
And a PF 150cm dish on a DIY polar mount (of an enviable design and quality).
And a sky dish for the missus. (Strangely not on a polar mount)

...so what's the next CM polar mount for???
Any more reflectors in the shed?

Reflectors are quite common, it's the feed arms that are becoming rare (they do rust, eventually).

Hi st1, when i bought the 1224 it came with a CM 1.2, i will be selling the 1224 soon but i want to keep the 1.2 that came with it, now i have a mount to for it :), i will probably use this at low level for messing with KA band in the future :)

I have seen only one antenna which feedarms are made out of plastic, but that was only 75cm. I think that for bigger dishes it is not so easy to make plastic feedarms as they would be heavy and could also be affected by weather conditions. Best material for antenna's periphery (mounts, feedarms, LNB holders, supports etc.) is .... you know :)

But fishing rods are made our of plastic - even the ones you catch sharks with??
Surely they are light and strong enough.
And gliders (sailplanes) are made out of (semi) plastic..
They too are light and strong...

Maybe it's just too expensive compared to a set of arms made from steel?
(But why then GBP ~100 for a pair of CM180 arms?? Ouch!)
 
Perhaps good composite materials or carbon are too expensive to make feedarms. ~100 GPB for set of original feedarms is too much, that is for sure. INOX material for making perfect feedarms for 1,8m dish would not cost more than 20 EUR IMHO.

I made new arms for my CM180, and tried Aluminum - but it was too bendy.
Neede a good steel rod inserted into the tube to give the necessary rigidity. (Somehow that sound wrong...)
Alumin(i)um is still a soft metal, steel is (mostly) hard.
 
"If donkey stayed in the shed for 5 minutes it will not work on sun anymore" (my translation, could be not precise). Personally, if I have possibility to use INOX, I will never use other metal for SAT hardware.

If you use aircraft quality aly tube it will be fine, the thing with using inox you would need to brace the back of the dish if your also adding a few lnbs to much weight will even buckle a CM out of shape :(
Aircraft Materials
 
I am little bit disagree about weight of INOX. It is absolutely not necessary to very thick-walled tubes. Welding of aluminum is another issue.
And price of aircraft aluminum could be high.

It would obviously depend on what your putting on the end of the arms would determine the best route imho Rimants, i do agree if your not going mad with lnbs :), welding Aly is not a problem to me and aircraft quality/grade tube is cheap enough, i made a 11mrt band antenna from it last year for under £30 in tube.
