Hi all. Just getting back into the satellite scene after about 10 years. just wondering what would be the best way forward, heres the question?
Iam looking to get something like a TM 5402 hd receiver as i like the menu setup as its nice & simple. I have 1.2m chanelmaster with polar mount and a jager 24" jack which used to run on a 36V feed from the old reciever.
I also have a 90cm dish and a wall mount
just wondering which one would be the cheapest and easiest to motorise with this reciever.
Thanks
Rich

hi rich, and welcome back to the hobby :-),

i am no expert here far from it, but i am just getting back into the hobby after around 2 years out, btw i did not know much when i left the hobby, and still know very little now,

but i would set the 1.2 up ive been having good fun installing mine/pulling my hair out at times and still got lots to learn but i am really enjoying the challenge,

jacks/motors are not that expensive nowadays and my 1.2 blinds the 1mtr i was using before,

but the experts will advise you better :-),

good luck with whatever you decide to do :-),

Hello Rich, welcome back to this great hobby.

It really depends what you want to watch - most of the European transmissions are very strong these days (although there are a slowly increasing number of spotbeams in use as new satellites come into service which can be difficult to get).

The 1.2m will of course give you the biggest range of channels, and theres plenty of advice available from the regulars here on the forum to get you up and running again if you get stuck.

Keep the 1.2 up, I've got both dishes and the larger will be better that's if there's no problems with neighbours due to the size.

vbox can be got from a forum sponsor, I saw one on world of satellite for about 25 plus posting.

I've noticed there is an m2 version of the tm5402 hd must be a hardware revision.

yes - i would just echo what the others have said -
the channel master is such a sturdy dish - once set up well, they are trouble free.

I tried to post earlier from my phone to say get a black ultra lnb but it wouldn't work.

The single, twin have a longish collar to allow for tweaking the position and the pull down rain cover will even fit over compression fit f connectors, well Thomas n betts ones.

I had the 1.2m dish up for 6 years. Great little dish. Would pull in all the channels on the Thor satellite in good weather. Solid dish, good in bad weather. When neighbours sky dish was covered in snow my dish would still pull in a signal on Astra 2 even partly covered in snow.

Only problem with this dish is the pole mount needed.
