Here are links to the Inverto pages displaying the relative dimensions of the single and the twin

You'll see the neck on the twin is about 2cm shorter than the single......least I think it is.....it may well be half a kilometre by my previous calculations.....

Would it not be worth experimenting with a Black Ultra single, just to see if the long neck makes a difference?.........
Yes and they are very cheap....

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

The long neck on the LNBF described are designed to get the front of the feed to the correct focal point.

There have been some feed designs that improve the impedance matching by use of a longer throat, often dealing with the removal of standing waves, filtering out of unwanted noise that might be a harmonic of the required frequency(ies), or there to improve linearity across the required spectrum.

However, unless you use a mechanical waveguide down to the pin diode at the bottom of the tube, and that waveguide is set to one polarity only, everything else is a compromise, and most likely the compromise is a profit in manufacture and distribution, rather than an improvement in reception.

The total lenght of the wavepipe of the single BU is only ± 55 mm , at the twin version it is ± 78 mm
Only the fact that at the single BU the housing of the electronics is in the same direction as the wavepipe and smaller than 40 mm , gives it that long neck .

Hi radical

from pic at post 5 there are wires that are not away forward your dish which can lower your signal
you can have better levels with more sensitive tuners like TM5402, XTREND ET4000
you can select a better LNB
