Ukraine had the air disaster a few months ago - I guess its not really surprising things have been muted there

They had the usual serious speeches to camera and shots of the army so not a barrel of laughs.

Happy New Year indeed. Just got back and reviewed my recordings. ETV did not have anything live, but a recorded countdown and a show. And the first song sung after the anthem was... wait for it... ABBA's Happy New Year.
On satellite, I was monitoring Al-Masriya, aka Egypt Satellite Channel. They interrupted a recorded concert for a few animations in both languages wishing happy new year, both in Arabic as well as Eastern Arabic numbers. In one of the screencaps, the red calligraphy above 2015 means "Egypt" in Arabic. Watching Silvesterstadl on TV now.

That's the colourised one I saw the back end of (Unfortunately) on WDR just before 5pm GMT.

Like most things, you just can't beat the original. May Warden seems to be in barely controlled hysterics much of the time!
