Only 3 weeks to the end of the year so its time to set up the annual year ending thread for anyone who wants to join in.

If you havent seen the annual fun before basically it works like this - we start with midnight in Auckland at lunchtime uk time (using the coverage from one of the fta news channels) and work steadily westwards around the globe hour by hour seeing what sort of ceremonies and fireworks we can find in assorted countries. We have a few drinks, a bit of banter on the forum, and just generally have a bit of a laugh and enjoy the various ceremonies.. Its all very light hearted, and folks dip in and out during the day.

If you havent joined in before most of the channels we use are on Hotbird 13E. Most of the channels we get reports on are fta so anyone can watch, although folks sometimes kindly provide info about whats happening on a few of the encrypted channels.

Ive closed the thread and will reopen it towards the end of December for further discussion :)


Shame we have lost Uzbekistan off 53E, but new for NYE 2015 are the various Turkmenistani channels on 52E which will be interesting to see if anything happens on them.

Things do change from year to year - a couple of years back Vietnam surprised everybody by having a party on instead of the usual closedown & opening up routine. But of course half the fun is seeing what we find every year

Not until I've drained my glass of Port and had a Sausage Roll.
 
Anything needed to be added or removed from the speadsheet, not really had a good look at it this year yet.

I'm looking forward to this. Only have one motorised dish to play with but I'm sure I'll catch some gems along the way. Up until this year, I was restricted to Freeview and Turksat 42E on a fixed dish.

Most of the action is on 28E / 13E. Once we get to the European/Mid East area things split up a bit and folks report in what they have found on the various channels. Reports of wrinkly rockers are always welcome :D
 
Surprising how many frequency changes there's been this year and not just from the removal of Eutelsat 28A
 
Last year there was a Reuters feed on 24.5w which had most of the celebrations from around the world, I wonder if that will be the case again.
 
That Feed is active year round, so hopefully there's a good chance.
 
As mentioned its year round and 22W, previous years I've had access to what was coming up on Reuters, but that's changed this year.

I may park my dish at 22W this year and have a Hotbird-Astra1-Astra2 only deal with the wind so strong.

Loads of showings for forum favourite "Dinner For One" on NYE :D

First showing appears to be 1040 German time on RBB. There are then well over a dozen or more showings until it plays out the final few minutes of the year on NDR before the fireworks, being shown at 2335.

Various regional versions are available - Nordheisser, up Platt, & op Kolsche
