I assume we will be running the usual end of year fun on the forum?

Usual routine, tune into Auckland midnight at 1100 UK time then work our way westwards across the time zones seeing what weird & wonderful celebrations we can find, no doubt a smattering of wrinkly rockers and an awful lot of fireworks!

For those of you that havent seen the format before the usual firework highlights are

Auckland
Sydney
Taipei
Pyongyang(!) - had an excellent display in 2016
Dubai
Moscow
London
Berlin or one of the German cities

Channels are all almost all watched via FTA channels on 13E during the day, the Germans on 19E & a few news channels on 28E. There are always a few contributors chipping in with some of the other birds - eg the Ukrainians & Baltics on 5E and whatever other oddities we can find on the other birds across the European arc.

There is also the opportunity to watch the classic Dinner For One on 19E

Same procedure as every year?? :D

News 18 has gone encrypted into the Asian pack on 28E

13E - Dubai TV & Sama Dubai are both available in HD on 12399H 29700 2/3 S2/8PSK

13E - the Sri Lankans seem to have disappeared again.

If there is ever any doubt about the enduring popularity of DF1 - Netflix have made a version! The guests are renamed as characters from Netflix shows - not ever having bothered twith NF I have no idea who any of them are.... :D



Another classic ruined by a modern interpretation........

(And apart from those of us in on the secret its STILL virtually unknown in the UK - even though Ive been plugging the joys of DF1 for at least 15 years across various forums....)

For those using web streams - expect more activity than usual from Estonia(UTC+2) due to upcoming centenary. Also ETV will be having multiple live broadcasts from Freedom Square in Tallinn on NYE including at midnight.
 
First year I'll be relying on IP and Freesat not sure if I'll be able to pop in but my spreadsheet is as upto date I can make it.

Storm Dylan is expected to clobber central & southern Scotland with 70-80mph winds tomorrow, so I shall keep contributing as long as the dishes survive!
 
Well my NYE plans aren't what they were and am free to chase midnight.

Since I was expecting only to use Freesat and Streams I am going to take the opportunity this year to only focus my efforts to online material.

I have already setup a TVheadend server with a ton of webstreams which I am remuxing into ts on the fly for compatibility.
 
I may have to join you in prioritising on webstreams, remlap. The motorised dish has just spun on its sides thanks to this morning's heavy gales!
 
I havent been able to find one of the vital cables to finish my av installation off so unless it turns up early tomorrow I wont be able to post any screengrabs this year :-doh
 
I've just finished getting the motorised dish back to where it should be, in preparation for tomorrow. Looking forward to it once again! :)
 
About 10 years ago my 13E dish got knocked awry by a fearsome gale right in the middle of the NYE fun, despite it being well sheltered. It took me ages in a heavy rainstorm with a feeble torch trying to get it more or less roughly re-aligned so I could carry on :-rofl2

Some of the weaker tp's were still missing but Id got enough back to carry on :)
 
Ive updated @remlap spreadsheet with a few extra channels on the far east birds for anyone with access to Azersat & TurkmenAlem

All my channel lists are now up to date & Im ready to go. :cool:

Dubai have already started their countdown to midnight - currentlyt showing 19 hours 41 mins on screen ! :D
