I assume we will be running the usual end of year Follow the Fireworks fun on the forum?
Usual routine, tune into Auckland midnight at 1100 UK time then work our way westwards across the time zones seeing what weird & wonderful celebrations we can find, no doubt a smattering of wrinkly rockers and an awful lot of fireworks!

For those of you that havent seen the format before the usual firework highlights are

Auckland
Sydney
Taipei
Dubai
Berlin or one of the German cities
London

Channels are all almost all watched via FTA channels on 13E during the day, the Germans on 19E & a few news channels on 28E. There are always a few contributors chipping in with some of the other birds - eg the Ukrainians & Baltics on 5E and whatever other oddities we can find on the other birds across the European arc.
There is also the opportunity to watch the classic Dinner For One on 19E.
The Reuters news feed is also a useful one to have access to as they tend to have the full displays from main cities on.

Notes for 2025:
Dinner For One was virtually unknown in the UK until I discovered it on on the German channels on my folks old Sky analogue system about 30 years ago. Chatting about it on the forums in the intervening years has led to a bit of a cult following now :cool: Its got well enough known had a couple of showings on UK tv in recent years :-respekt

The Reuters feed moved from 22W to 15W a few months ago - its now on 11341V 20165 3/4

As usual I'll close this for now & reopen it a few days before NYE


BTW - 2025 seems to be the 21st anniversary of Chasing Midnight on this forum - the first one I can find is 2004, with regular Chasing from 2007 onwards. The 2004 thread has a whole 5 messages in it!!

I wouldn't expect anything from Ukraine if that's what you're asking. Same goes for Moscow going off what happened last year. Sounds like you have most bases covered.
 
19E & 15W are the obvious extra ones.

19E or the Germans
15W for the Reuters feed.

12.5W isnt much use these days

London and Edinburgh will most likely be on 16e based on previous years

42 East has a multitude of channels outside Turkish. There may be a chance of seeing footage from Russia.

Was watching a documentary on the Falkland Islands the other day and as recent as last month it was made legal to purchase Starlink. Prior to this internet speeds were/are very slow/very expensive as one telecoms provider had the monopoly over the islands.

It really is a game changer getting decent broadband. We have had fttp just on a year now and even having the bottom tier 140meg in / 20meg out is soooo much better than the previous 7meg in / 0.5meg out!

Things just work properly :D

I believe that the most important countries will be at 7E as last years, maybe encrypted but they will be there.
At 7E possibly we will see Auckland, Sydney, Tokyo (or Seoul), Taipei, maybe more asian countries in late afternoon, then Dubai, Athens, Paris, London, Rio de Janeiro and New York. It is a very important position.

Hmmm Id better do some maintenance on my set up tomorrow. Signal levels are very low on some of the satellites.
