Boxes are hologrammed and the remote is the correct one he even has a pic of the inside which looks like the new tuner..And his f/b is fine...
I'd say yeh but have been wrong b4....

Red

PS Does anyone know if the new alps tuner is better than the old one...
Quite disappointed with pic. Quality on my 500s..:-HoHo

I bought one of these boxes after having been assured by the seller they are genuine dreamboxes. The box looks genuine enough (remote and hologram stickers) and seems to work ok. However I'm reluctant to break the security sticker so I can remove the cover to take a better look inside. Is there any other way of confirming authenticity, i.e. software version, etc ?

I bought one of these boxes yesterday for 99.99 and 15.00 for next day delivery. The box does look genuine and comes with the silver remote but i'm 90% sure it's a clone. Iv'e been told from a good source that the only way to know for sure is by looking at the holograms. When put in the light and by turning slightly the official holograms should read "Dream on Valid". The holograms on the box I bought reads "Dream on". So those who have bought dreamboxes recently i'd suggest you check the holograms.

I have heard stories of cloned products coming from the original factories and are the same as original ones.

A lot of items are now made in China and are open to duplication - IMHO.

The main loser is Dreambox.

I checked my holograms and they both read "Dream on". However it does seem strange that anyone would go to the trouble and expense of producing a hologram without the correct wording.

If this is genuine, it seems our friends in Asia are capable of cloning products even before Dreambox manage to get them on the market ;) : http://www.greatdvb.com/satellite_receiver/dreambox-8000s.htm

Which ones are clones? These at £99 on ebay # 250085231826 . Does it matter if they are made in the same factory. I suppose it does if you are dream and need to make back development costs.

Is there some more information about the clones? Do they work? I have a friend who hasn't got a lot of money and is desperately trying to get e dreambox, if the clones work ok he might be tempted.

in regards to clones.

the old dm500 clones dont support networking, but the newer ones (ask the seller of them) which most people sell support networking fully. They work the same as a normal dreambox, but the build quality is slightly lower and they get hotter. But to be honest, if your not fussy a clone is ideal. However if people dont support dream-multimedia they will stop making boxes...
