Cheap Smargos on Fleabay... any good?

Vu uno, VU Duo2, sky dish, 2 zone 2 dishes for 19.2 and 23.5. Satlink meter, rover STCeu meter. Tripod with a dish for messing around.

Hi,

Firstly i didnt know where to post this so forgive me for that. maybe a PC server section in the recivers section would be a good addition.

I have seen these smargo readers on ebay for £25, this is apealing when looking at the other £50 ones!

Has anyone bought one, do they work ok? what is the difference? i am using a white sly card

Hi mate, they are china copies, I would steer clear if I was you. They do have something of a bad reputation.
 
Buy original and avoid problems!
 
ahh, not to good then, originals are so expensive!! i might give one a go. if i have problems i can always send it back, the feedback is very good for the seller. i may contact a buyer and see if they are any good.
 
I thought at £25 quid they were too good to miss, so I bought one.

I was using Omnikey and NewCS to CCcam which worked lovely, but the extra Hop was niggling me.

Anyhoo, its arrived, its in and working, all CCcam 2.14 - I will be back if it does fall over.

And no, the Omnikey is not for sale :-Nooo

True, but without the "trick" at least you get rid of the fakes
 
I have couple of orginal Smargo's...

Their weird behavour with cards really pissed me off, so I went to market, bought parts and soldiered smartmouse/phoenix interface by myself, which, in combination with RS232 to USB adapter, still costed me much less than Smargo, but works just fine.
 
hmm yea cccam 2.1.4 is annoying

going to have to cough up for a smargo as atm im using omnikey with newcs + cccam 2.1.3.

cccam with 'trick' to make it look local so i can control peers to only have my local and not my reshares.

that will go by the board when i have to go to a new cccam!

looks like we are all being PUSHED to get smargos!
