Choosing a dish for 4 lnbs

Hello all,

done lots of reading but have a headache now, and want to start building my new set up, so time for my 1st post.

I'm looking to get FTA/FTV stuff for UK, Germany, France & Netherlands. After a lot of reading I decided on a 4LNB setup pointing at:
28.2E, 23.5E, 19.2E and 13E.

So 1st question is will the above sats give me a good spread of channels for the languages/territories I'm looking at? This seemed to be the best compromise I could figure from what I have read. Prefer to avoid motorised so I can run twin tuner without issues.

2nd question, (assuming the 1st answer is yes), is there an equivalent of the Raven Gemini 'oval' dish I keep finding referenced? I figure oval makes sense when setup is 4 LNBs wide. Location is near York, I have found some saying a 65/70CM dish will do it, others say it needs to be 80CM +. I'm trying to keep the dish as discreet as possible to keep the boss sweet, don't think she'll allow an 80CM on the wall.

ta for the quick reply & the welcome. That's exactly what I'm looking for, I guess I need to keep searching and reading. I did find a "Maximum T85 / E85" since I posted, I'm guessing thats the same dish as you have linked. Any input on how small a dish I will get away with to cover 28E thru 13E near York?
 
I used a Triax TD88 with 6LNBs for a whileIMAG0297.webp L-R 28.2, 23.5, 19.2,16,13 & 4.8e (sorry for the double post)

I used a Raven 88cm for this set up 28E + 19.2E + 13E + 4.8 E.

The Big Bisat is a nice dish, if somewhat expensive, but a TD88 with the multiple LNB East and West offset bracket will do the trick.:)

Excollier, if you could get 28.2E thru 4.8E on a TD88 I'm wondering if I'll get away with a slightly smaller dish for 28 > 13.

Rolfw, like the Bisat, I'm pondering if I would get 28 thru 13 on the G2 bigsat with the appropriate LNB bracket. Think I'll get a kicking off the boss if I try putting an 88CM unit on the wall!
 
Same 88cm dish motorised now,
All satellites received 53 east to 34.5 west.

You'll struggle to get all four with much smaller than 85cm, the other Bisat dish requires special brackets and I see they do one for the four sats you suggest, they are a very high quality unit, here's the Technisat solution.

They also do a 45cm version, but it would be too small for the UK.

Thanks all for your input, I’m forced to have a rethink now. Suspect I’ll either drop 13E and then should get away with the 75cm wide bisat with 3 lnbs, or reconsider going motorised with something like a TD64. Would I miss much on 13E?

Any more opinions or advice please jump in, there’s so much to know about these things and only so much I can absorb searching and reading.

Not much FTA in dutch, TVDrenthe on 23E and BVN on 13E; also very few on 9E.
Also french FTA is not much on 13E and 19E I believe; maybe not even two handsfull? But I don't follow that.
Were you aware of that?

But of course plenty of FTA british and german programs to enjoy! :)

A problem with the smaller antennas is that multifeed LNBs can get in each others way: not enough distance between them. And narrower LNBs are much more rain-sensitive than 'normal' LNBs. So check carefully if what you want can be done with the equipment you choose!

You will need 5 west for FTA Multi-Stream French & Italian TV.

Top info many thanks for that, that makes a difference. I knew I’d need narrow lnbs in the mix, so a valid point as well on rain sensitivity. Deffo want plenty of Dutch and french, looks like I do need to go motorised really.

Would a motor and a 65cm dish do me proud? I’ve noted people still tend to have a bigger dish even with a motor?
 
Thanks William, same result really, am accepting a multi lnb setup just wont cut it.
 
Decided to get a motor in the end, so a weekend of fun ahead of me. I thought it would be wise to keep the current dish (zone 2 sky dish) and see exactly what I can get with that on the motor, I may find I don’t need to upgrade beyond that. Thanks all for your input everyone.
 
It be cheaper just get a 60cm dish and quiet dark motor.
With multi lnb you end up always wanting more satellites.

Mike, yep I always feared I’d get drawn in but hoped multi lnb would keep me happy for a while.

DArk motor and a technomate box has arrived, I need more bracketry to do the motor, but for now I’m busy getting my head round the technomate box. No doubt I’ll start another thread soon when I hit a wall.

As Rolfw suggested the Cahor's Big Bisat dish is perfect for multi satellite reception and satellites 4 degrees apart are possible without having to use a 23mm adapter and slim LNB. Talking about £175 on eBay but you will have to import from Germany. They are not metal dishes so they don't rust and have a 10 year warranty. I used to have one but I never installed it and regretted selling it. Thinking about buying another one now. Just hasn't figured out whether to go for wideband or quarto LNBs yet.
