Clandestine Sky reception in Switzerland!

Hello everyone,

First post here so hi! I was searching for info on a multimo satellite dish

I live near zurich and would like to recieve sky, I have a large balcony facing the correct way with no obstructions, only thing is i am not allowed to have a satellite dish on the building!

I would however be able to get away with a small dish such as the multimo, some of my friends get a perfect picture using the stand sky mini dish so I am thinking the multimo will do fine?????

has anyone had any experience with cassegrain dishes or know where I can get one for less that the £130 average???:eek:

Anyone here have one they want to sell??

I ran in Zurich with an Arcon Sweety 53cm dish on a dloor stand in Zurich for many many years until I got Sky+.....if you do get this type of dish and do want Sky+ or a second box, ensure at least that it takes C120 flange LNBs - Arcon ones I don't think are.

Media Markt sells this for 299 IIRC. You could also look at _www.topsat.ch and _www.toppreise.ch to see if you can get something cheaper or better.

PS: MM sells flat cables for 10 francs that save you drilling though your balcony door ;)
 
One effective way of disguising a dish is to cover it with a green garden furniture cover such the the ones sold by Argos in the UK. The cheap (around £5.00) plastic ones work, the more expensive pvc ones don't.
You'll lose a bit of signal when it gets wet, so a slightly larger dish than normal would be an idea. One other method is to make a fibreglass cover so it looks like a rock or piece of masonry.

thankyou very much for all the replies - i saw in MM they had a "clear" 80 cm dish for about chf 150 but as I already have an 80cm dish available i think i will use the garden furniture cover! lets hope it doesnt get windy!

Good news, I spoke with the Hauswart ( caretaker) and he has agreed to me having a satellite dish on the balcony on the strict condition that it cant be seen.

I will give it a go and see how the reception is, i plan on using a parasol base with a pole for support,( not allowed to wall mount it) and as the barrier of the balcony is fireproof style glass it wont be seen.

Only thing i have to check is the height/ position required to get a decent signal. I have thought about getting a clear dish but not so sure how good these are - we shall see.
 
get a proper base from somewhere like _www.sp-radiohess.ch - just over 100 francs. It won't move.

You'll find that within your balcony area, you can have what you want - but a low-mounted dish should not cause issues anyway.

Also be careful - if it's at the back of your balcony, it might have an effect on the reception you get ;)
