What you will get with alternate firmware?
1. Faster (MUCH faster), channel switching time.
2. HUGE improvements with c/s functions and general emu.
3. Default record time will be not 2hours, as within clarketech firmware, but will be limited only by free space available on media.
4. Numerous other fixes/improvements
What you will loose?
1. DVB-T support (disabled temorary, will be back soon)
2. Menu languages other than English or Russian (will be fixed sometimes)
3. Ability to control front blue light (leave it OFF with old firmware)
But, there's huge amount of fakery information available on net, saying that such upgrade will kill your receiver, your remote will not work and so on... All this is fake. All what you need before converting to new firmware is set DHCP to OFF in LAN setup.
Proof that it's possible:

You can see here clarketech running drhd firmware smoothly.
