Or it'll end up caked up to the eyeballs in dust like the heatsink in the attatched pic.... :D

EDIT:
I measured it too, it's about 5mm thick...

That fan spins, but with a dustcake like that, the CPU overheated and conked out, luckily, with a new heatsink & fan the CPU (an AMD Sempron 2800+) still works, and I wish I had gloves on when I took that machine apart, it was VILE!!!! Even the vaccum had a hard time cleaning the inside of the system up...

Also, the Hard Drive, Motherboard, & optical drive were dead, so that's an expense for someone before christmas.... :D

I have to put the new stuff in tomorrow though, so I can give what's left a thorough clean... :p

A used sheet of bounce (the stuff that people put in their driers) over the intake fans works as an effective fan filter, it also makes the PC smell nice :)

Bounce - now that's a bloomin' good idea.

I always vacuum my computers out every six months. It's the only action my hoover sees...

Putting the PC on the carpet, or near ground level is a recipe for disaster.

Some of the desktops I have repaired / upgraded in the past three months should really have some toxic warning on them.

Dell units from the late 90's usually blow the dust out through the front, clogging up the A drive and cd readers

My PC which is on my desk at floor level hardly gets used, but either way I still pull it apart and clean the essentials (heatsink, RAM slots & RAM itself, around the CPU socket (especially the Capacitors), PSU (yeah, I take mine apart to clean it out!!!), graphics card), and just a general dusting inside the case & around the drives, it's probably why my old Athlon 1.4Ghz still works when compared to some systems I've had to repair which are only just a few months old and still they're caked up!!!!

Anyway, I forgot to get that Apple-related "thing", was busy building a big order.... :D
