Clive Swift R.I.P

Actor Clive Swift, the put-apon husband of Patricia Routledge's Hyacinth Bucket in the TV sitcom Keeping Up Appearances, has died aged 82.

Appeared in many shows on TV, including Doctor Who. Also films, such as Alfred Hitchcock's Frenzy.

I was listening recently to his reading of some mystery stories on Radio 4 Extra, and was struck by his excellent, clear enunciation.

From quite an accomplished family. His brother was the late actor David Swift (Henry Davenport in Drop the Dead Donkey) and one of his sons is the garden designer Joe Swift.

RIP Clive.

As confirmed his ability to portray through voice alone was outstanding, I'm surprised he didn't strike gold on radio.
