Advice Needed CM 180 temporary install

I was experimenting with temporary installation of the Ajak motor on tripod mount till it fell down in the garage and broke Ajak.... yes, it happened 13th May (Friday). Means, temporary is not always the best choice.
Ouch! No fun when something like that happens...

Meanwhile, I like your garage doors, which open up to ... your lawn (rather than your driveway)!

In place :O) Should be zero risk of any possible damage.

This gonna be great :) Took only a few minutes to get the 28 sats.

Jeezuz, this thing is sensitive to mm's nudging. But with good mount should be no problem. Great db's even with still some treetops in the path. Looking good for the future.

I like my CM120 mount, so easy to adjust.

Encouraging news!
But you need to decide between sd stuff and hd, to determine where to aim...

Some lnb testing, Maximum xo twin seems to be the one that 'likes' the dish the most, as on the 125 cm.
Overall gain compared to the Famaval 125 is approx 5 db. All 28° EU's burn a hole in the lnb cap, as expected.

2E uk & 2G uk, everything incl. HD's survived the evening level abyss hours with good margin (the 125cm lost all 2E uk HD & all 2G uk). The weak 2F uk gives aprox 11\12 db daytime, will still be a challenge (good!) with fine adjustments to (possibly) secure 24h reception. All in all excellent and can only improve with real mount.

Used a laptop\wlan and Enigma Signal Meter to play with lnb's and dish nudging, great control.

Attach. 2G uk, famaval 125 vs cm 180

What compound of tyre are you using? Maybe a supersoft will give better reception in the evening:-rofl2

congrats on some very good results - looks like you are in for a whole new 24h experience...
But are you sure you are getting 2E and 2G 24/7, and have probs with 2F?
'coz 2F and 2G are at 28.2/3, wherease 2E is at 28.5E.
I have mine pointed at 28.5, giving me mostly good coverage, but I do lose some HD channels now and then.

Because of your, erh, tire-mount, you may have ended up pointing at 28.35 (which would be ideal).
So when you get the dish mounted, you may want to try and hit 28.35 (takes some back-and-forthing to achieve in-betweening)...

Yes, got some loss of grip in the 2f uk evening curves...

Thanks, dish certainly behaving well under temporary circumstances. Compared to e & g, 2f uk is special here (have tried orientations), best daily levels are much lower to start with then looses 7 to 8 db for some evening hours, even in good weather. e & g may loose only 4 to 5 db. Will look into possible adjustment details and orientation when I someday mount the 180 properly.

Attach., evening comparision of 2f uk & 2e uk. 2f not salvageable for a few hours.
And this is a 5 db improvement over the 125 cm.

Yes, apart from a normal twin lnb looking lost and lonely on such a dish, will hunt for the best possible lnb setup when the dish is mounted properly.

Had a go a cleaning the dish, looks in great shape. Got a better opening in the trees, & as for the CM + tire-mount, works very well. Never seen bbc HD at such levels ! So far so good.

Can't (won't) move it away from 28 ftm, may do some tests for other sats when the dish is on a decent mount\pole.

The tyre works fine for the tests, due to dish weight it's 'a little spongy', but excellent to get some experience with dish and orientation.

Forum should have a dedicated 'crazy, funny, special mounts' topic :O)

Indeed :O) but buried within posts, and difficult to come across. One topic with a collection of photos, to find ideas.
