cm feedhorn v's black ultra

My Satellite Setup
1.2 channel master, cm polar mount, 12 inch actuator, Andrews feedhorn, Inverto lnb, Superjack positioner, Dreambox dm 500s, Protek 9600ip, 1m channel master with black ultra & 1m gibertini with technomate twin output lnb on astra 1/2, TM 5200 & 1000

I put my black ultra on my 1.2 channel master hoping to squeeze a bit more, but got less signal quality on some of the weeker transponders.

Mbc's on 26e with black ultra is 88% quality, with my cm feedhorn and inverto flange i get 91%, and the same on some other sats.

The same when i put it on my 1m gibertini last year.

Was a bit dissapointed as i heard good things about the black ultra.
 
I found that the Black Ultra can give too much signal to some receivers, like my Dr.HD F15 does not like the Black Ultra on a short bit of cable. Once I'd looped it through another receiver the signal levels shot up!
 
i cant seem to grasp how a £10 lnbf can out perform a matched feedhorn/c120 combo when all i ever hear is "use a matched feedhorn and c120 lnb on dishes of 1.2m and above". i have a gibertini OP 125 motorised going up in a couple of weeks and cant decide whether to go with the gibby/andrew or hirschmann feedhorn and inverto/invacom twin lnb or just shove a inverto black ultra on it.... my point is i want good quality parts installed without bankrupting myself that will last 10 years or so, regards mdt
 
I suspect a matched feedhorn and decent C120 LNB on larger quality dishes probably does work as well or better than a Black Ultra but since the Black Ultra is pretty cheap you are not losing too much by trying it out and see if it meets your needs. Certainly on smaller dishes I've found the Black Ultra is very good in most cases.
 
Yes i think the matched feedhorn and inveto lnb are best.
Tryed the both the feedhorn inverto lnb and black ultra on my 1.2 channel master and 1m gibertini and the feedhorn inverto lnb work best.
 
would there be any advantage using the andrew feedhorn with a inverto white tech c120 on the gibby 125 or should i stick with the gibby feedhorn?.... if so ill stick the andrew feedhorn on my cm102cm with a c120 quad.. the gibby is for watching tv and the cm is for playing/testing. regards mdt

I use the andrew feedhorn with a inverto white tech c120, never used the gibby feedhorn.
Surely someone on here who has can offer you advise.
