Coaxial Selection & more ??

Hi all I am new'ish to satellite and trying to install my own coax and cat 5's at my home while awaiting sky to supply HD + and Sky + boxes for multiroom. I live in Jersey and need to fit a quad LNB on my existing dish and run twin coax's to lounge for Sky+ and two to bedroom for Sky+ HD box to be fitted, I am also running my own cat 5e cabling in conduit on exterior wall and adding phone sockets in rooms for multiroom.

The bit that gets me is that I was told that better quality coax will provide a better signal but after buying some from wholesalers I am now stuck with 100 mtrs of Black CT125 by ELAND CABLES but due to limited wholesaler service I can't get crimp tool right size for F plugs, F plugs for RG59 / CT125 size cable and am told to top it all off I was told that this cable is total overkill and only for long / communal dish runs and that if signal was too strong due to using this cable it will cause a grainy picture and if too small cable is used I would lose signal and get a snowy reception !!

So I have today gone back and bought a drum of QF100 and tried terminating this into screw on F plugs as one installer also said even after using many many crimped on f plugs they are still terrible to get a decent connection ??

Some sound advice please ???? and would I need an attenuator or similar if signal on 1.25 cable was too strong to choke back the strength ??

Won't sky sort the dish and satellite cable for you ?

While 125 cable is overkill, you probably wouldn't have to use an attenuator, atleast not with the satellite feeds. Worst case would be to delibertly misallign the dish, to reduce the the signal. "Snowy reception" is indicative of analogue reception, not digital.

100 cable will be fine. Sky generally use 65 for twin cable runs.

Now't wrong with Crimp connectors when done properly. Personally I use compression (Snap n Seal's) for terminating cable. Screw on connectors will work fine, but of the three are the worst option IMHO as the pull off to easialy.

You can use either 125 or the 100 that you have. The 125 is just costs a little more and is thicker. The attenuation difference between the two is very little, at 6 dB over 100m.

Installed properly, you can use screw-ons, crimp or compression, all will work fine. I'm using very high quality screw-ons at the moment, and they don't come off easily.

screw on f connectors can be got for c125 . ive used them before on long runs in my cable days .

i now only ever use wf100 as its very flexible and the signal loss is low .
