I have a pair of heavy duty leather boots, brand new and stored for a few years awaiting the old ones to expire.

In the wait the sole, being a rubbery type material that was supposed to be inert to fuel and spillage has perished ( so much for the claims) just sitting in the cupboard, and needs replacing.

Has anyone recently dealt with a professional cobbler service to see if soles can be replaced and what I should expect as to price ?

So, your boots don't have an eternal sole then? :-rofl2

Eternal sole(s) yes. Except they shrugged off their mortal coils and buggered off into the next world unannounced.

???? I have had Vibram soles on my combat boots and work boots that are over 20 years old and they haven't turned into that gooey mess you show in your photos.

What have you been stepping in????? Or on???

They could be clones from China, or maybe from space.

The first image confirms they are UK issue, with correct serial number.

They have been stored in a cool environment, awaiting the demise of the boots I have been wearing - not constantly mind - for about six years.

I did have an invasion of mice a couple of years ago, but this has nothing to do with them, they just chewed through a valve radio I wanted to restore.

(images soon)

A bit late but I managed to pull the boxes away from the corner of the shelving.
