Thought someone here might be interested in this blog post about how the Commodore 64 was used as a satellite decoder back in the late 80's early 90's

I remember a friend using his old 386 computer for the very same thing :D

You wouldn't have thought that the C64 would have had enough power to decode the encryption.
 
They were fantastic machines, those C64... Miss them.
After you've read that very interesting article, make sure you watch the ASTRA promo clip that's available on the right-hand-side of the screen. Awesome stuff. They don't make them like that anymore! But boy, the bloke with the cool remote control (!) should really do something about his dandruff!!!
