Hi, I have read several posts in relation to replacement satellite receivers and systems and I can quite frankly say I am still clueless on how to upgrade my satellite system.

I currently have a standard Sky+ mini dish and Thomson 127K148 receiver, all of which were fitted by Sky. I'm not currently paying for Sky and am just using the free view channels. I would like to be able to watch more free channels, primarily sport and adult stuff from Europe (and any other free good channels which are out their in Europe).

I do not intend to do the installation myself and would seek professional installation. I really wanted some help and guidance on what sort of equipment I need, and how much I should be looking to pay, without getting scammed or getting something I don't need.

I'm assuming from what I have read is that I need some sort of motorised system, presumably a larger satellite and a replacement receiver. I quite like the transparent receivers, and would be happy to have mounted something around 80-85cm in size. I would really appreciate some help on guidance on what kit I should be looking to get. I am willing to pay around £400-500 for the stuff. Oh, and how much should I expect an installation of this nature to be from a labour prospective?

Cheers

hi m8, with your current set-up, you will get nothing in europe,
as for free staff, there are no free lunches in this life!
you would need to upgrade your equipment and buy
some cards for the mature content channels or footy.
be lucky.

Hi shifty,
Welcome to the forum.

Yes I agree, a motorised system would be a good choice.

Receiver wise on a budget, and ideal for a beginner are the Technnomate range of the receivers. The TM 5400CI+ would be a good choice at around £90. It is patchable too, with good support.

Or you may wish to consider one of the Linux boxes, such as a Dreambox if you fancy a challemge.

A basic TM motorised system would cost about £200.

A decent Deambox motorised system probably around £400.

Plus installation of course. Don't know how much they charge as I did my own.
