Connect Sky HD with PC via HDMI

Mates, I would like to ask if I connect the Sky HD box with my PC via the HDMI and specifically connect the HDMI output of the box with the HDMI of my pc's graphics card will I be able to have the HD signal on my pc's screen?

Which graphic card?
Is the HDMI connector defined as input or output?
Does it have both?

The pci capture device has both hdmi input and output.

Could this work? If I get a cable from the hdmi output of the Sky box hd and connect it to the hdmi input of this pci capture card will I be able to capture hd with/to my pc?

Nice looking card.
As it has HDMI input, then I suppose that it will do the capturing in HD.
Will not work if your source is copyright like a commercial DVD.

Well I am afraid that there are copyright systems in the hd broadcasting.
So is there a chance the hdmi port of the sky box will be blocked in case it gets connected to/with a card like this?

I do not own the card. And there is something else. HD from sky costs 10 pounds each month extra. If this does not work then I will not go for the SKy HD package but for the ordinary one.
Sky contracts are binding for one year, as far as I know for new customers.

I think you'll find that much of the Sky HDMI output is copy protected, hence why they disabled the component HD outputs on the box, forces evryone to use the HDMI.

They let you do this, though...
If you're running out of space on your Sky+HD box's hard disk, you can copy recorded programmes you want to save onto video tape or DVD. While you're making copies you can watch the programme being copied but you can't watch another programme. HD programmes are copied in standard definition quality.
So you can copy the HD programmes in the PVR and when running out of space, connect the (scart probably) to your VCR or DVD-R and copy them. I say scart because they refer to SD quality, so the only way to copy from HD to sd is to use the scart to extract the hd content from the PVR.

I think we've done this one to death now. They only allow you to record the HD programme in SD through the scart socket. Even if you connect this to a recording device capable of HD it'll still only be in SD.

Correct. If the $ly HD box is showing a programme which is copy protected then, if it doesn't get the correct "answer" from whatever device it is connected to with the HDMI cable (TV, recorder, whatever), it will not allow a signal out of the HDMI port.
