Not sure if you guys can help me with this but my problem is with the best way to connect up all the spaghetti behind my tv?

PANASONIC TH42PZ8B PLASMA TV 2HDMI, 2 SCART, 1 COMPONENT

PANASONIC SC460 PT DVD THEATER SYSTEM 1HDMI, 1 SCART, 1 OPTICAL IN, 1 AUX

GOODMANS GFSAT200HD FREESAT BOX 1HDMI, TV SCART, VCR SCART, 1 OPTICAL OUT

PS3 for (games and bluray) 1HDMI OUT, AV OUT, OPTICAL OUT.

My problem is with 3 units req hdmi and only 2 sockets on tv do I buy a hdmi splitter lead 2 into 1 about £70 or do I sacrifice quality and use scarts.

Next I only have 1 optical in on the sound system but would like to connect both the ps3 and freesat hd box what do I do here?

I consider myself reasonably intellegent but you guys must have superhuman intellegence if you understand all this?

Sorry its a bit long, any advice greatfully received!

Can't see how a splitter can help. You will have two different signals with crosstalk between them. Is it a splitter or a switch?
Save your 70 pounds and go the SCART path for the third device.
Check if you have component output on any of the devices and use that to connect to the TV component input and the other two will use their HDMI output. You will get a better video quality than with composite.
Or use HDMI switch with remote

As for the optical in problem, consider optical selector like this one (it is a 3-way)

Would mean doing a bit of exercise every time you need to make a change.
