hi y,all, i have a basic grundig freesat box [only a scart] is there anyway to connect to external hard drive via the scart? HELP PLEASE...

You can connect it to a DVD recorder, or even an old video recorder, using the scart lead, then just set the recorder to AV, and record any program being shown on the freesat receiver.
What model is this Grundig receiver? Does it have a USB port.

hi mickha. the receiver has nothing but the scart. is there not a scart lead wth a usb at other end or something else?

It would be far easier to buy a cheap DVD recorder, some of the older ones, Analogue tuners, wih 250GB hard drive, can be bought for less than £40, this can then be used in connection with your Grundig receiver, and even be set to record programmes using the timer option.
The other solution is to buy a new receiver, either with a built in Hard drive, PVR, or with USB ports to connect an external hard drive. There are some reasonably priced satellite receivers, with these options, and some are HD.

Nah. Remember scart is a 30 year old technology.

There are some multi media storage boxes that claim recording facilities like the Emprex ME1 that sound like they could do what you want.
