control bandwidth on my home network

hi we have a netgear router and connected to it is the dreambox and two laptops when the kids are downloading stuff it all goes pear shape for me. so can i limit the amount of bandwidth to the kids or give my laptop priority.

I had a look in my netgear menus and could see any settings which enabled control of individual bandwidth.

I think you can install windows steadystate this will allow access at certain times and you can even put a timer on internet connections

Just tell the kids to stop downloading otherwise your ISP will cut you off (not necessarily true, but VM are doing it to illegal downloaders!!!) and they'll be banned from using the computer(s) as punishment by you... ;)
