Hello all.

I am a n00b at this… I hope this is the correct place to ask this question

I have a Vu+ Duo with FTA channels on Hotbird with an internet connection in one room, and in the other I have an very basic Tivusat (Italian) box with an official card (nagra).

When I remove the card from the Tivusat box and put it in the Vu+ box I get the channels working well. The problem is my wife likes the Tivusat box and wants the card back!

Can I put the card into the Vu+ and copy the data so the box doesn’t need the card anymore? Then I can return the card to the other room and watch the channels in both rooms no problem.

Thanks for any help

Tseb.

The simple answer is no, if it were that easy everybody would be doing it.
You could check if Tivusat offer some kind of multiroom deal, and if it's possible to upgrade, but it's very unlikely, unless you have a subscription from a relative, or friend, in Italy.
You can also look into using 2 linux based receivers, setting one up as a server, and sharing the card, between the two receivers, and just keeping the official receiver to update the card, if the VU+ can't do it.

Thank you for the quick reply. What a shame... It was so hard getting the Italian box and getting it registered at family's address. I will have to see what I can do. Is there a tutorial on sharing here? I don't know where to start.
I have just looked into getting another linux box - a friend has an old Chinese copy dreambox 800 I can have (I think it is HD model) if I can work out how to use it!

Check the dreambox tutorials, most linux based receivers are similar.

Just get another card from ebay , about £40 and they come already activated , then you both have a card each .
Cheaper then sharing as you will need another cccam capable receiver and all the headache to set up .

Sounds good - I will have a look.

Thank you
