The same rules apply to any dish be it motorized or fixed you need line of sight ..
As mentioned you may well get the focus of the dish to 19east ..with a greater stand off ...and the edge of the dish touching the wall ..
..and yes this might allow you to pull an extra 10 degrees westward ..using the multifeed ...providing there are no obstructions ..
..but the further from the focus the lnb ..the weaker the signal ..
So yes you might get 13 east using this method ..but 1 west is impossible imo..

Ah ok, thanks for the advice. Bit of a bummer lol. I'll maybe look into getting a set of T&Ks and an extra K with a scaffold pole for mounting above the gutter. Its a hell of a height to be working at and I don't really fancy it. Thanks anyway.

The only possible saviour is the fact that Zed's in Belfast and 5°W is his due south sat. However, I side with VS, and think that 0.8°W is going to be a no no.

A couple of our members do Norn Irland installs if you are unsure about working at heights.

My own advice would be DONT try a self install at height if you are uneasy - the risk isnt worth it to save a few quid.

If you want someone to quote you for an install then put a wanted in the dish installs section - putting your location in the thread title :).

Hi Zed ..
Here's one I prepared earlier ..
It might help you decide ..
The dish is the larger TD110 ..
the one you origionally considered.
The T and Ks are 12 inch ..but the motor effectively pushes this forward another few inches ...so the dish has no issues about hitting the wall.
It's also quite high up ..and I had to work with the very heavy TD110 at height ..so needed a 2 stage ladder almost at full stretch .._but_ I also used a wall standoff ..
Essential I think for working up a ladder with a dish particularly at these heights ..
The standoff just clips to the top rungs of the ladder before its raised.
Also I found in my case it was easier to assemble dish and motor at ground level ..then hook it over my shoulder ..climbing the ladder and popping the whole assembly on top of the pole ..brackets pre prepared to do so.
Once the weight is safely on the pole top ..you can breath easy ..and adjust without the burdon of weight.
As you can see I've used 2 sets of T & Ks ...perhaps overkill ...but thats just me ..
..I always err on the side of caution ..
..and I have the added weight of the motor to consider.
Its scary working at height but not impossible if you gear up right and take no chances.
..but as AS says ..if you're uneasy about it ..
..get in someone who isn't

Thanks Viper. I've posted in the install section for an installer. Won't hurt getting a quote anyway. I figure if Im getting it installed above the gutterline, I might as well just go for a 1.1m motorised. Although it would need to be well secured as it's pretty exposed up there :). Thanks again for advice.

I don't get it... if he can't get to 1ºW how is 5ºW going to be his saviour?

Well....

If the wall on which he intends mounting the new dish is facing due east it therefore aligns due north - south. If you look along the wall facing south, 5°W would be at the point where his line of sight disappears and 0.8°W would be to the left of that and should be available. However the size of the dish will probably mean that the rim will hit the wall before he can get near to where he could catch the sat.

A bit late, but

If you were supplied that bracket as suitable for the 88cm dish in your area, you should be entitled to a refund as it is not fit for purpose.

I'm afraid it was my own stupid fault. I had the bracket from on old 80cm, so I thought I'd try the td88 on it. Not the smartest idea I've ever had. Ah well, none of that matters now anyway, hopefully I'll get a proper install done soon. :-)

On that note, can an admin please enable my PM facility so I can make contact with an installer? Would be much appreciated. Thanks.
