Thousands of DM500s were bricked beyond what is possible for a normal user to correct (Gemini fiasco).

Also why buy a clone when there are so many budget priced alternatives, TM-Single for example? It just doesn't make any sense.

personally i dont think that counts as it was dirty tactics by the gemini team putting the bomb in(i was refering to user error in the update/flash process). as for TM linux well enough said due to their cock ups/blatent lies in the past. we could give arguments for and against all day but its just personal opinion but i still feel the VU+solo V 3.2 and DM800HDSE A8P are good value for money clones against originals. the OP really needs a stb with all the benefits of a DR-HD F15 with a broadcom based CPU with unlimited channel storage but alas it looks like its not going to happen anytime soon

He wants a blindscan tuner so my recommendations are still genuine Uno, Ultimo or Duo2.

I've got a TM-Single. It's a Broadcom powered receiver and works great with the OpenViX image. Only thing missing for me is blindscan and a few more tuners... but at the price it is a great E2 entry level box.

A Vu of some description is currently looking favourite ...and I only require a single tuner ..
That said it has to be the best tuner I can get ...and hardware blindscan is preferred.
I shall make my choice if and when I have enough funds ..based on the recommendations in this thread..
Taking a higher priority is the PLL Cband lnb I should receive in the new year.

It's the same tuner card in all three models. There's a choice between single or dual cards. Both have hardware blindscan. I've found the single tuner a touch more sensitive, but the dual tuner is better in the top 500 MHz of each band. Single tuner has loop-out. Dual tuner doesn't.
 
Huevos, will a dual tuner card be able to give me a hardware read SNR dB as opposed to a pseudo one in most Vu+ receivers? Pretty sure the Solo2 has a true SNR dB readout...though it might depend on drivers rather than hardware.
 
Not sure on the Solo2. Pretty sure when dual card is in the Ultimo dB is done in the software because it tops out at 16.2dB just like the single card. I had a Dreambox once and that is done in hardware and dB reading continued past 18dB.

Personally though I leave my SNR in percentage, for no reason other than I'm used to it.
