This afternoon's launch of Cryosat 2 can be found here:

Its using a Dnieper rocket from Baikonur and uses an explosive charge to blow it out of the launch silo before the motors ignite!

Launch is due just before 1500 uk time.
 
What an odd launcher - the rocket pops out of the silo like a jack in a box, hovers for a a split second then the motor fires and it climbs up into the sky. After the second / third stage separation the launcher spins round 180 degrees and tows the top stage along behind it :D

Never seen one of these live so its interesting to compare it with the Ariane & Proton launches.
 
Mission success - shes been safely released into orbit and the telemtry has been picked up by Malindi :)
 
I was watching the pre-launch stream but got called away before the launch itself, sadly.
