Curious Audio Question

I have noticed that when I connect my TV to a peripheral via scart, such as DVD player or STB (satellite) that I have to push up the TV volume using its remote almost to the max in order to get an acceptable level of volume from a DVD or Sat input channel. Why is that? A Scart peculiarity?
 
Some digiboxes (Or DVDS) have menus specifically for sound. On a sky digibox, you can go into sound settings and turn up the output sound there. Try that.
