Hallo from cyprus. I post this in this section since i m sure many people in cyprus have this receiver(Pace 2600c1). I recently got a pace 2600c1 which came with epg software 3.7.6..:mad:...i was promised the latest software by the seller. Question . Can i force update it to the latest 3.8.8?How do we do that?Any other owners of this receiver got lucky to update it via force update ??any suggestions are welcome guys.cheers chris

if you mean the sky pace box, all sky boxes can be forced to update over the air by holding the backup button down whilst powertring up, you know it has worked when it says do no power off for 10 minutes whilst updates are carried out, i advise turning of fthe screen as that black screen that says it can burn into your tv
 
The Pace 2600 is quite old so it's not always possible to force an update as the data isn't being transmitted constantly. Best thing is just to keep it plugged in and powered to a 28E signal (north beam I think) and it should update eventually (it could take weeks or months). I don't think you are missing much with 3.7.6, I've still got a few receivers with that and they work fine.
 
I'm sure it'll work just fine. I wouldn't have noticed the change to 3.8.8 if I hadn't have looked in the systems menu. Perhaps someone else on here knows that the new version brings.

I went to a customer with exactly the same problem a couple of days ago. 2600 from the internet and a new sky card which had been paired to the digibox ,but he could not get past channel 284. All channels back to 101 work. Even on the tv guide anything past 284 did not exist. I tried a forced update 4 times but no luck. I manually tuned important channels like sky sports into the "other channels" and they work fine when selected. This subject has been on before and someone said that update signals will come eventually.

Any idea what the EPG version was? I seem to remember seeing a similar problem on a very old version (older than 3.5.3 at least) but 3.7.6 doesn't give me any issues.

I can't remember ,but when you press "services" there are only 6 choices instead of 7.
 
Pretty old then, I guess it was missing the "auto standby" option.
 
That's right. When did sky introduce the autostandby ?
 
"Auto stand by" i got this option. Also another problem is that when i "add channels" it downloads them all right and i can "store" them but when i go through the menus to find them in "other cannels" list ....it keeps .."searching for listings"?????whats that means zif tuner issues???(((
 
Is the box working OK otherwise? Has it got the EPG data (channels, programme listings, etc)?
 
no timo no programms listings. (((when i manualy download added channels and store them , i cannot find them in the other channels list afterwards
 
Sounds like your box isn't picking up the EPG data from 11.778/V (north beam). I think this is also where the upgrade data comes from too so if you can't get that then the box might never update. Is your dish big enough?

If you want to get the box loading channels onto the EPG you can tell it to grab the details from another transponder but it probably won't show the full 7 day guide. (Go to Services, 4 System Setup. Then press 0 1 Select to get to the hidden menu. Select 2 Default Transponder. Change the settings in there to a transponder you can pick up, and save. Your box should then load the EPG with limited programme info)

EDIT: Also, are you looking at the right satellite? (28.2E)
 
Timo that was very helpfull. You are right, i could not get 11.778 so i changed the default transponder following your tipps . epg is up and running. thanks to everybody trying to help)))This is surely the best place to get help!!!!!

That's correct...if left connected to a signal, the box eventually updates...could take weeks tho!!
I always believed the presence of 11778V is necessary for the box to update software...

Recently i had problem updating an Amstrad DRX890 which had EPG software version 45.X.XX.X..
No matter how many times i tried to force an update, it did not...this box had the EPG in the old order (ie SKY News on #501 instead of #517)
I left it connected to my dish and it took almost three weeks to update to EPG software version 47.0.16.1...but EPG s still in the old order!!:confused:

Every time the box is unplugged from the power source you will need to change the default transponder to one you can receive.

My brother in law has to do this in Spain everytime there is a power cut to get his 2600 back on
