My brother in law has to do this in Spain everytime there is a power cut to get his 2600 back on

If power cuts are frequent it might be worth him thinking of getting a small UPS.

You think he`d see it like that but he`d rather live with the minor pain of having to enter the default tp everytime, I know if it was me I`d invest in one lol

That's correct...if left connected to a signal, the box eventually updates...could take weeks tho!!
I always believed the presence of 11778V is necessary for the box to update software...

Recently i had problem updating an Amstrad DRX890 which had EPG software version 45.X.XX.X..
No matter how many times i tried to force an update, it did not...this box had the EPG in the old order (ie SKY News on #501 instead of #517)
I left it connected to my dish and it took almost three weeks to update to EPG software version 47.0.16.1...but EPG s still in the old order!!

The SD/HD swap is down to the subscription on the card and only swaps if you have an HD sub on the viewing card.

I just wrote the frequency details down on a sticker under the battery cover so if I need them it's quick and easy to re-enter them without having to load up Lyngsat or find a copy of What Sat.
