Dead Freeview card

Hello all.

I've come across a freeview card which isn't working. Is there anyway to tell if it's damaged ? If it's just "not been kept alive", any idea how long will it take for it "to live once again" ?? Should it be in the box 24/7 or perhaps just during the night ?

Stick it in a box and leave it. With any luck its about 2 hours for C4, anything up to 3 days for C5.

Okidok. I stuck it. Since I now have 2 of em, any idea how often they die ?
 
Every couple of months. If you have a dreambox and cccam you can see the expiry dates with a bit of technical trickery!

... left it overnight and found the box "Searching for listings" in the morning ... strange. Anyway, rebooted the Pace digibox, left it all day today ... and a few hours later all is well! Thanks!

... ehm, isn't FOX NEWS freeview ? Has it changed or is my card not fully alive yet ?
 
No FN isnt freetoview. HOWEVER is is available on a few boxes due to a bug in the software somewhere.

wow a useful bug ! "It's not a bug, it's a feature !". Is only Fox News affected ?
 
Yes, and its only a handful of box types affected.

Quite why anyone would want to watch the right wing propoganda on FN anyway is beyond me - its almost unwatchable

I don't think it's the box, as the same box with a different card opens up FN.
