Decent crimp tool + source for F plugs + boots/weatherproofing

Can anyone recommend a decent crimp tool for F-plugs, and a source for crimp plugs and suitable boots for weather proofing - or any alternate suggestion's from those with more experience welcome!

I am after something that is more the Audi of crimp tools than the rolls royce, but happy to spend more than the ford ka of crimp tools I assume Maplin pedal.

I read different advice on silicon grease in the plug, opinions on that welcome!
 
Webro Cabelcon 5.1 CX3 compression F connectors for 1.00mm cable, typically WF100. Comes with an O-ring so no weather proofing or boots needed. Also do a range of crimp types. Most compression or crimp tools should be okay for standard 100 type cable.

Compression is ok as long as they are suitably robust, they certainly look the business!
 
Compression is the way to go.
 
i managed to get a crimping tool,20 compression f plugs,and a wire stripper for about £12 on that famous auction site e*ay which came from
hong kong i got them within days
 
Those CX3 do look the business, will need to work out how many I need and find a supplier, oh and sell the house I currently live in :-rofl2
 
Yes the CX3 is definately a good connector, looks nice too.

Although when you've replaced over 100 normal crimp on connectors in a week (Usually installed around the 4th floor) for the CX3 the novilty wears off.

Although the tool that i was given for them is the dogs danglies :D

yes mine looks exactly the same tool
 
Well that's interesting, bought one of the SAC compression tools today, but whilst it works fine on the Cabelcon CX3, there isn't enough travel on the piston to fully compress the Triax TX100 connector, it's about an 1/8 of an inch short. Looks like I'll have to get the Triax tool as well, bummer, although I'm sure the last tool I had had more travel, will have to check.
 
If that's the right tool I think its the one for me. I see another popular retailer does a bundle with the tool at 10 plugs for £20 so that may be the way to go.

Bought the CX3 and used the tool/plugs helping out a friend last week, he had bought some Triax plugs (and Triax tool that was not shipped and supplier did not mention it was on backorder!), same as Rolfw we found the Cablecon tool cannot compress the Triax plugs.

So he gets to buy me some replacement CX3 plugs now :rolleyes:

Plugs are excellent however, really great built and fit :-righton
 
Can anyone tell me if the same compression tool can also compress the WF125 version of the CX3? (considering couple critical runs in WF125)
