Hi,

I received my TD88 today, but it looks to me as if the dish is deformed or contorted. I've attached pics. Can you guys tell me if this is a serious flaw and needs to be sent back? Or maybe they're supposed to be like that? I doubt it though.

Thanks!

Completely u/s, I'm afraid.

Thanks. That's what I was afraid of. I'll contact the seller right away, although I have a bad feeling they will try to deny or transfer liability to the courier.

Bent as a nine bob note, send it back as faultly. Any probs with the seller contact your cedit card company.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you mate, I'm having a issue with a crappy Spiderbox at the mo, it's going back aswell because it's faulty. Did the outer carton look o.k.?

Dish looks insubstantial to me. Tell the supplier to protect the dish with more packaging before sending another out ;)

What type of dish did you order?

A multi location (2 or more LNB's on one pan) dish will look like that.

A single prime focus dish wont.

definately bent dish there, my first dish was a triax td88 and it came all the way from germany in a box with very little packaging without damage.

my channelmaster 1.2 dish is tough as anything just a cardboard box around that beast when it arrived. :)

It is a standard offset dish, that can take a few extra LNBs, but still it most certainly should not look like that.Looks like if fell off the van and someone drove over it. The only time I have seen a dish that bad was when someone tried to adjust it without undoing the clamps.:-rofl2

Ever seen a T90 toroid? looks like it was wrapped around a telephone pole.

They might have sent a 24 x 33 elliptical, and with the offset it will look funny. (sorry US units of measurement)

Dose the paint look chipped or cracked around the edges? If not then it may be normal, try it and see what comes up.

Certainly damaged, pointless even trying ;)

Sorry, just trying to help out.

I have seen some mighty funny looking dishes in my 45 years of playing with this stuff and that one doesn't look to bad to me.

But I haven't seen much of the hardware you all use on that side of the pond so it may be whacked out of shape.

If it wasn't for the fact that you've paid full price for an unbent dish I would have a go at straightening it. From the photographs it only looks twisted, not bent.

However, you've paid for a good one so I would pursue it wih the vendor.

Thanks for the replies guys. Yeah, it just came in a cardboard box, no padding of any kind. The box looked pretty much untouched though, which doesn't point to it being damaged by the courier. I paid £50 for it from a pretty reputable UK satellite firm. I'll no doubt have to pay for return postage, which means I'm gonna be out of pocket about 13 quid. That's if they even agree to replace it! Fingers crossed.

Also, as far as they're concerned it's a single focus dish. Although I plan to use it with 3 lnb's on a Triax multi-block.

I have known reputable sellers to simply send a replacement when a dish turns up in poor condition. You have photographic evidence of it that you can send them. You have the Sale of Goods Act on your side mate, remember that. Tell them to come and pick it up themselves if they want that pile of crap back. All they need send is a new face, as I suspect that the brackety is OK?

No, not seen one in the flesh, but it would be symmetrical, not twisted like that. But seen numerous TD88s and know them very very well.

Yes, the bracket is fine. Just the dish itself that's fubar. I found their phone number on yell, so i'll probably give them a ring tomorrow and see what they say. Thanks again.
