I'm not sure this is posted in the right section but here goes

I just bought a new flat screen for my bedroom and thought i'd treat myself to sky upstairs, so i went and bought the philex 4 room kit from Argos and wired it all up, it all worked fine, then it died, i just got a bad flicking pictue in the upper quarter of the screen!! i checked all the coax plugs and the coax itself, all fine. I checked all points along the splitter, again all ok, i then tried the old analogue aeiral socket and i get the same pictue fault, i now noticed the rear of the TV at the RF socket says 5v DC, now i'm not sure how accurate the info i have is but i'm sure RF2 is 9v out???? would this have killed my RF socket or not. There was no instruction manual with my Philex kit which meant no warnings too. If this is the case i'll try and get a refund on the tv but is there any way of transforming 9v RF to 5v RF??

Any help would be brilliant

Welcome to the forum Andy.

The 5V OUT supply on the tuner input is for remote powering. Normally if 5V is activated at default when not needed, it's normal to receive a message on the screen eg. short circuit. I had a couple of screens do this on me last week.

If you are receiving the picture fault with the aerial and RF feed from skybox, there's a good chance the screen is faulty.

Man, its only 4 days old, it was working perfectly last night then started flashing a black screen and then nowt but the top quarter fuzzy scrolling picture, sound is awesome though?? and its definately not because i'm trying to send 9v into that socket?? also would there be any form of transformer in the SLX link (magic eye)?? I nearly bought the Philex superwand kit but thought wired would be much better any dealings with them??

Just to be sure I would suggest you move the screen to its old location or to another room to make sure there is no outside influence (a magnetic field etc.).
You could also try to se if you can connect a DVD or something to the screen using the scart socket. Basically, try a few things so you can find out if the screen has a problem, or maybe something else. In any case, as it is new you should have a warranty for it.

The SLX remote eye has a DC filter in the circuit that stops the voltage from the Sky box from passing through to the remote TV.

I would suspect there may be no signal on the RF2 output of the Sky box myself, Ive seen a lot of the Pace boxes from three/four years ago develop this particular fault.
