Here you can see tests of three different feed horns, presumably manufactured in different times by different successors of Channel Master, but they are all CM matching feed horns. I gave names to all three (in the attached comparison) in order to distinguishing between them in this test, although the names are probably not reflecting the historical reality (sorry and correct me if you have more historical info).
Test Location: Copenhagen, Denmark.
Dish: Channel Master 1.2
Satellites used for the test:
- 36E (Eutelsat 4W and Eutelsat 7W);
- 28.2E (Astra 2F and 1N).
I used 2 satellites in order to have more objective test results. I am at the edge of the footprints for both of them. On 36E I tested feed horns for both both linear and circular signal reception; on 28.2E - linear only.
As a result of the test i came to the conclusion:
- CM feedhorn (grey color) performed better than others in the range 11.7-12.7 both in linear and circular polarization.
- Andrew and Raven feed horns (white color, corrugated, with scalar rings) performed better in the range 10.7-11.7.
- There was marginal difference between Andrew and Raven feed horns, Andrew feed horn was a notch better.
- Results of the test seem to be in accordance with the attached Datasheet from Skyware (one of the manufacturers of CM equipment at some time)!
