Ok ..the verdict on the Stab motors you left for me to investigate.
First job ..check the bigger/older of the 2 ..
This was working ok ..
So to the later edition (smaller)
Yes this one is as you say faulty ..
First job ..open both and check for compatibility and similarities.
The older one uses standard through hole components ..whereas the later faulty stab uses a smaller pcb with surface mount components.
The motors look the same but the sub pcb on the later motor has also been redesigned.
Nonetheless ..both units have a 9 way ribbon cable connection ..and so we can call this a common point.
I can see no reason why the electrical characteristics of each motor wouldn't be the same ..though the pcbs are physically different.
The only difference should be in the gearing if at all.
So ..we have a common point in the ribbon and thus worth trying the graft of the old control board into the newer motor and vice versa ..
Took a while because of the crappy glue the employ to water proof and seal the pcbs and connections.
I did eventually accomplish the task ..and here are the results so far ..
The problem is definately NOT on the newer motors control pcb ..imo
Succesfully drove the old motor to an endstop ..but these pcbs will have to be swapped back..
This happily ran the older motor (one direction only)..but now no movement using the older control board in the newer motor/and sub pcb.
I have checked the suspect motor for resistive continuity ..but this doesnt exclude shorted turns or crap build up where the brushes contact the armateur ..thus shorting out motor sections Or the newer sub pcb.
Personally I DO suspect this is the case ..and thus a new motor would be required..
..but I reserve the right to be wrong about this.
Can we get one is the question ?
By posting this to the main forum rather than PM ..
Maybe someone has a used motor with proken gearing or somesuch ..and would be willing to sell you just the motor.
..a definate possibility now we have established _SOME_compatibility issues between old and new stabs..
Pulse counting IS different ..but doesn't exclude actual motor swapping..
