Disecq switch and disecq motor config

Ageing 80cm HH Motor, and new Edision Primo SP2

Hi, just a little confused on how to configure the following, if i was to go down this route to replace an ageing 36v system on my 4 dish setup

4 Way disecq switch as follows works now, but LNB2 is on the 36V motor dish separate fed voltage at the moment

LNB1 Fixed 28E
LNB2 Motorized for possible new Disecq motor
LNB3 Fixed 19E
LNB4 Fixed 13E

I have read you need to position the switch after the motor for it to work, does this mean cable from receiver goes direct to motor then out of motor to output of 4 way disecq switch and LNB 2 is still retained as the the motorized dish (with additional cable run) after its all configured in the software etc
I have read a few horror stories on forums of blowing switches and it just not working as it should
if its going to be messy i would consider keeping 36V setups in future !

The LNB 2 cable goes from the LNB to the Motor, then the wire from the motor is fed into the Diseqc switch, which then has one feed going to your receiver.
You then set up the receiver to send commands to your motor.
What make/model receiver do you have?

You can still use your 36v motor, and a V-Box II, in the same way, and configure your receiver to control the motorized dish, via the V-Box II.
This way you feed LNB 2 to the Diseqc switch, then feed the cable, from the Diseqc switch into the V-Box II, then into your receiver.
 
I've run DiSEqC Motor current through DiSEqC switches for years without a single failure (from that potential cause).

Switches tend to be conservatively rated at 500mA pass-through and Motors max. out at 400mA, which doesn't sound like a big enough safety margin - but in practice it's fine.

It is important, however, to be disciplined in turning boxes off prior to connecting, disconnecting or physically reconfiguring switches. I have blown a couple of Ports through being lazy.
 
HI, thanks for this i was concerned it may not work and would have ended up with just the 1 motorized dish for all satellites, i prefer the instant access to all etc
So basically it is a short patch lead from LNB to motor then out back to LNB2 on the switch, and no extra cable runs? This seems the same way you would connect if there were no switch.

I have the Edision Primo IPS2 which i think has all the software options


And yes i blew one port messing couple of weeks ago, without powering down, so will do this from now on !

Yep, I have an Edision IP S2 doing summat similar. No problems there.
 
I always run the switch(s) after the motor, less possibility of a stuck motor causing a switch to pop from too high a current draw.

But if your using a "V" box then there should be no problems with that as it's a separate circuit.
