DiSEqc problem

Hello,

ive just got my self a 4way switch box thing so i can have upto 4 dishies on one receiver

I can run one cable from the receiver to the mono block and get astra and hotbird fine
If i connect it to the switch thing then I just astra

I also connected my sky mini dish to it and started a new search with my box and it said tuneing fail

Where am i going wrong or are these things not compatable with mono blocks?

using a humax 5300 VACI and 80cm dish and sky mini dish

please help

Why are you putting a switch in between the monobloc (which has its own switch) and the receiver?

Heres how its setup

cable from box to swtich box marked out
Mono block connected to socket LNB1
Small sky dish connected to LNB 2

Is this right??

No, why are you trying to do that?

The monobloc will serve the Humax fine with the two satellites at which it is pointing, but combining a diseqC switch and a monobloc in most cases will not work.

If you want to do this properly, then get an offset bracket with two LNBs rather than the monobloc and then you can see the three satellites using the extra DiseqC switch.

Ni 2J,
As Rolfw said your monoblock has its own Diseqc switch.
Do you know your 5300 menu.
Try this first, goto diseqc settings you should find that Astra is set to (A).
Change That to (, then Hotbird will become (A).
Now try your 4 way switch, Hotbird should be displayed on your TV.

With the 4 way switch in your line it will only pickup one LNB in your M/block,
Thats the one set to (A).

Did that was on channel 561 qvc germany on astra then i changed to settings in the menu to active antenna 1 is hotbird
qvc should of gone and the hotbird channels should of come in right??
but ive still got qvc germany if i push the ? button on the remote it says

561 qvc germany
HOTBIRD FTA German
12551 MHZ(V) SR 2200 5/6

is there any way i can get a ofset bracket for my dish all the one ive seen are for the triax dishies the LNB arm on my dish is round not square

I've attached a picture of a universal 9 degree bracket, it's suitable for Astra 19.2" and 13E, unfortunatelky, not many people stock these now.

when i connect my satellite dish up (sky mini) and scan it says tuning fail i no the dish is in place connecting the sky box up it recives bbc one ok

Hi 2J,
By the time you buy the bracket and LNBs go for a £70 motor,
It will just be as cheap.
Then use your 4 way switch to connect you S*Y dish to your
Motorised dish.

When 30w (D+..Cabo) come back to your 5300 (Or go for a K3 card)
you will have a Signal Quality of 90% to 100% on 30w with your size Dish.
With the setup you want you will not pickup 30w without another Dish.

2j, Or take your 4 way switch back and use the money against
a Motor. Then run another cable to your box.
Then when money is available go for a Hi Def Sat box.
Then you"l a some setup.
