Hi,

Can anyone please advise me of the best location for a DiSEqC switch, is it outdoors close to the dishes or indoors close to the decoders?

Also, any recommendations for a make/model would be useful, either a two input or 4 input will be fine? A quick check on eBay shows models from Amiko, Global Invacom, Konig, Octagon and Technomate, plus a lot of other makes I have never heard of. There were a few Spaun switches from EU sellers but none from UK sellers.

PS: Always power down the receivers before fitting these switches ..... I goosed one by taking a shortcut.

Hence the link ...... that's the replacement!

When I had to use one, I had it inside, it saved having to waterproof it, but others have them near the dish, either way works.
I just bought a cheap, 4 way, IDTE Diseqc switch, which worked, for as long as I needed it, just a few months, while I moved house, and got my main dish set up.
I haven't needed it since.

Mine are close to dish, less cables entering the house. With plastic hood, even the cheapest ones working year after year, surviving winters, snow and rain (in Norway). 4 ways, if not all inputs used always good to have some extras for the future.

I do not think that waterproofing is necessary, and it is more than enough to cover Diseqc in the way that rain does not make it wet. ATM I have 4x 1/10 Diseqcs located behind the dish in self-made box. There are 4 Quad LNBs feed them. I am pretty sure those Diseqcs are > than 10 y.o. and still work fine.
