Dish set up - Info please

Hello All

Very new to this. On advice from here and also Maplins I have purchased the following system purely to receive free to air German TV channels

I have installed it and have loads of channels from Hotbird - but din't have all the free to air German channels - is this because I need a bigger dish - in which case Maplin have given me duff info or do I need to do something else. Sorry if it is a dumb question but I am new to this.

Align your dish onto Astra 1 at 19E - loads of free German channels on there :)

The dish will be fine.

"Maplins" and "duff info" are inexorably intertwined!

But yes, the German Channels are mainly to be found on 19.2E, so wang the dish 6 degrees further East and a tiny bit down.

I have the darned thing on Hotbird not Astra where there are some German channels!! How easy is it to reset? I have a satellite finder meter or is it best to get the installers back?

Depends: It's an easy enough task to DiY, but if it was installed for you, then you need to consider what you asked them to do: If you asked for them to align for Astra 1 at 19.2E and they actually aligned to Hotbird, then get them back at their own expense.

If you asked them to align to Hotbird, then they aren't under an obligation to re-align it for free.

So if there is going to be a financial penalty, I'd recommend DiY, as long as you have safe access.

Totally my fault so I guess I DIY it Have very easy access so will try to move it myself

Ok - as I said before, you just need to move it 6 degrees further to the East and then down a degree or two: It is quite likely that you'll find the signal without touching the Elevation, so try panning first, then tweak the Elevation.

6 degrees is not very far at all in spatial terms, so move in small increments.

When happy, read the earlier link about the FSUKVN LNB (if applicable) and adjust for optimum reception on both Polarities.
