Hi all.
I recently bought a motorised system but being a newbee I'm having the usual problems.
I have a Technomate TM - 5500 Dapci receiver,
a Jaeger SMR/SMO-99G horizon to horizon mount ( 36 volts ).
and a Triax TD 110 (
110 cm wide) dish.
My latitude is 51.64849'
My longitude is - 3.13585'

ANGLE OF MOUNT
The table supplied with the motor reads latitude 50', elevation 50.64', declination 6.67'.
I followed the instuctions, "place an inclinometer on the body of the mount and set this angle as follows,
angle of mount = elevation angle" = 50.64'.

ANGLE OF THE DISH
"Place an inclinometer on the back of the antenna plate and set this angle as follows"
Angle of dish = (elevation angle) 50.64'.
- (offset angle of dish) 26'
- (declination angle) 6.67
Dish angle = 17.97'
Please tell me what am I doing wrong, at 17.97' the dish is almost horizontal?
I must add If ignore the motor instructions and lower the motor mount angle and straighten the dish, I can find Astra 2 euro 28' east, Astra 1b,2c 19' east, Hot Bird 13' east and Hispasat 30' west with a very strong signal, but fail to find Thore 707 1' west as I must be completely off the arc.
I would appreciate any help with this problem.
Many thanks Paul

The motor elevation angle is not negotiable, it must be set to the figure described in the handbook.

Forget the bit about dish angle, as you are using an offset dish and you cannot set the angle by using an inclinometer on the backplate. Set it just leaning back from the vertical and then find your reference satellite as described in the howtos.

You could also set up on 5W as your reference satellite given your longitude :)
