Hi,

I want to receive AB4A and what size of dish I need to ?

Who receive this sat in England ?

I am talking about AB4A and not Nilesat.

Thanks.

Where you are situated in the UK will be a big factor, that aside you'll require a very large dish and large enough garden to house it in. Don't think there has been any full proof reports of Atlantic Bird 4A reception in the UK.

I managed to just get it on a 1.8m prime focus here, but barely only a couple of transponders. Was aligning for Nilesat though.

I think the answer to that one is "bigger than is required for Nilesat" !

There have been very few reports of AB4 reception in the UK which seems to suggest silly sized dishes are required.

Just to add, it's at 7.2W not 7W, which will make a difference on a 'big' dish.

South of England : Eastbourne.

Probably one of the better locations or parts of the Uk given the satellite you want to receive. At a guess, a 240cm should give you reception based on robbo's posting but not guaranteed.

Yes exactly.
See post #4 above.

Check out the footprint

AB 4A is not any easier than Nilesat.

I got 12399H, and one other I forgot, not much else if I remember right.

What was the size of the dish and when did you got it ?

Thanks for all.

Robbo used a 1.8m dish, and only got a couple of tp's off it (post 3).

For reliable all weather reception you are looking at 2.4m absolute minimum - possibly quite a bit bigger.

Which channels are you after? There might be an easier solution.

Can you tell me the frequencies that you have got ?

Thanks.

As you want both V & H polarities you are probably looking at a 3m dish (possibly bigger!)- its very common for one polarity to be far weaker than the other one..

And my friend - that sized dish is just not practical for most people in the UK.

However its all guesswork, so you would need to get an installer who is prepared to bring some big dishes along and try some dishes to see if it works..

12399H and ?

I said above, I can't remember what the other one was, it might have only been 12399H, it was about a year ago.

Not that long... unless it was the old satellite.
