hi,
as you know thor has different footprints ,you should check them before and see what package you want to receive ,few years back i had some reports from Benidorm area that some swedish chap used a 6M dish to receive the whole satellite ..still with some problems on some transponders ,but he did get it,now days with new Thor fleet upgrade i should think is different , i do receive part of Thor with an offset 1.50m , but if i have a chance i would use a 2.40m at least, regarding the makes i would check the local supplier for a Famaval dish may be with polar mount option in case you want to navigate around using a V36 actuator ..i´m located near denia/javea area ;)....cheers

pipino is right. Right now we have 3 satellites there.

Intelsat 10-02 at 1.0W with Spot 1 and 3 active right now
Thor 3 at 0.8W
Thor 5 at 0.8W with T1 and T2 Beams active now
Thor 2 was replaced by Thor 5 and has moved to 5E.

Here are the official coverage maps: http://www.flysat.com/1west-beam.php
and here the content they are carrying: http://www.flysat.com/1west.php

Now the question is which Beams do you want to get ?

Intelsat 10-02 should be easy on 1m or even smaller. The rest can become hell. I don't know the minimum size for full reception of each beam in your area but there was one thread at _http://forum.dxtv.de/wbb/thread.php?threadid=13288 where we discussed about Thor 5 and luckily member Hhalb from Barcelona let us know how it looked like there:

The Horizontal frequencies were stronger than the Verticals and even could be gotten on 135cm Offset dishes there. Latter are much weaker, so he did not have full reception on his 3.1m.

Member blamail was in contact with a person in Alicante using a 4.5m dish. I'd recommend to ask him.
