I have at present a pace sky box non sky+, that does me fine, I found an amstrad sky+ box today that was dumped in mint condition and in box and surprisingly worked!, so I thought hey I can now record!, then I found out you need to pay sky £10 a month so that was out of the question, so anyway thought may as well keep this box for the optical out.

I was then angered when I had to double my amp volume with this amstrad, the pace which I have now reverted back to was at "10" on my amp the amstrad "20-25", I even changed the volume in settings and also updated the firmware and still the same results. The amstrad is slow changing channels and has a noisy(hdd idle).

So it's now up for sale and have my pace back until I can save up some money for a pvr satellite box!.

Just wondered if any users has heared of this volume problem before?, ive read there is instances on the hd version.

The volume problem isn't confined to the Amstrad.

On my non-$ly setup the the Humax HDR (HDMI connection) matches the volume of the TV itself and my old terrestrial PVR (scart connection) except on BBC 1 HD and BBC HD when there is a proper Dolby Digital transmission when the interval and station announcements go louder!

My new Philips terrestrial HD PVR (HDMI) matches the volume except when the BBC Dolby transissions are on when it goes quiter!!

It doesn't give you a solution but it shows that there are a lot of peple suffering.

PS - now you know why the Amstrad was dumped! :-rofl2
