dm 500s switch channels and turns itself off!!

hi all hope you can help, i have a dm 500s and when i swap channels on a different satellite it turns off! if i unplug and switch back on its ok for a while???? really doin my head in!! i've factory reset my box and set it all up again( ok then for few days and then the same happens)

PLEASE HELP ME!!!
 
ive worked out that it turns off when i set the screen size to 16:9, which is what its supposed to be for sports and most films. anyone heard of this? any help greatly appreciated. pleassssssseeee

Well if your telly is a widescreen yes set it for 16:9, but if not I would not have thought you would need to be touching any settings, any adjustments should happen automatically, but I may be wrong
 
thanks mate i understand that, my tv is a 42 sony widescreen, but when i set my dm to 16:9 the screen goes blank. but the picture stays on when on normal 4:3 and 4:3 panscan. is it a setting problem or bug?
 
Not sure if it is a bug as I have never seen anything reported before, how is the DM connected to the tv firstly. What resolution of input is the TV expecting? Is the TV set to upscale. The DM can only output SD perhaps it is the TV that is not sensing the output correctly. What is the DM like on another TV? What else have you got connected to the TV and is that working OK?
 
its connected via a scart lead, the tv is not set to upscale and yes everything else works fine, without changing any settings! i'd love to get it sorted as when i'm watchin the footy the pic is off the screen if you no what i mean
