Now I know a direct connection would be better but there is no way I can run a cable to my Dreambox, except outside around the house.
Please can anyone reccomend a good USB wireless adaptor? I saw the TP-Link 54M Wireless USB Adapter thats supposed to work ok but the reviews in general were not that good.

The DM8000 should already have a WiFi card inside, at least mine has, so you shouldn't need an external WiFi dongle.

Yes of course you are 100% right. I am reading to much info and getting confused. Now got it working and must remember to use the arrow buttons on the remote, its amazing what you find.

If you open up your box, you will see a couple of grey antenna wires going behind the front display. In the picture, they are in the bottom right corner just below the red cables.

I couldn't get mine to work properly and have used my bekin modem router with success but it's not fast enough to stream hd but this may be due to position. Mains LAN also works but again not for hd but I've only got the 85 mb one and there are faster ones upto 200 mb.

If the WiFi is the one with a silver plate between Hard drive and red cables then my receiver has it... I cannot manage to connect it to my network

Is the mac address of the WiFi card the same as the one card to access using the CAT5 cable?

It's just a laptop WiFi card adapted for use in the DM8000.

I got mine to work on my WiFi network before I used the LAN connection. I remember I had to reboot the 8000 before it accepted the box's IP address I had allocated it.

Dont all 8000s come with WiFi from the factory? How is it possible to have one without this feature?

Is your problem now resolved?

If not, can you connect to the internet via the same router using a PC or Laptop?

The motherboard has a WiFi PCMCIA slot and antenna provided when it leaves the factory. The WiFi module is normally added by the distributor at point of sale. At least that was my impression. Maybe later models have the module already supplied.

Hi
As I have a D-Link DIR-655 router and gigabit network on my PC and that streaming HDTV still stops, flicker and are unresponsive I guess that the built in NIC are too slow even it is a 10/100Mbit, I haven't tried the built in WiFi NIC but I guess that it is a 802.11b/g which will also be to slow for HDTV streaming.
I wanted to buy myself a WiFI NIC 802.11n but not sure which one and not sure how to install it, anyone that have done this?

Thanks.

I bought myself a 802.11n belkin modem/router but there wasn't a linux driver and had to use the 802.11b/g usb instead. I don't know if things have changed since.
