Hello guys,

I'm really stuck here and I can't find a permanent solution for my problem.

I have bought a DM500-s receiver few weeks ago and I still don't know if it is original or clone. However, my problem began when the box started to freeze and stop responding every now and then and I have to unplug and plug the power to boot again. At first I thought it could be a power supply problem, but the green light never go off and when I connect the serial cable DB9 to my laptop and start using dreamUP no problem occurs.

Then, I thought it could be a problem with Gimini's image, so I erased the gimini image and installed nabilosat image but the problem still exist. I installed many images (Darkstar2, SifTeam, PLI) but with the same freezing problem.

finally I suspected that it could be the CS card so I removed it from the box, but still no positive results!

Sometimes the box works for 24 hours and sometimes for 15 minutes.

any suggestion for this I really need a solution for this strange issue.

How much space is left in /var? Are any plugins installed? Does it happen on free and encrypted channels?
 
no plugins are installed, sometimes the problem occurs once I install a new image after erasing the flash. so supposed to be healthy space in /var. It happens on free channels and I even don't have subscription for encrypted channels.
 
Are you using a motor? If yes, does it happen when you change channels to a different satellite or changing channels on the same satellite?

I'd suggest asking the seller for a replacement box.
 
Could be your dish is out of line or possible problems with the cable to it.

My IPBox will just freeze if i move the dish with my other box so it could be something worth investigating :-righton

Beaten to it by a fellow mod , Thats just typical :-lmao
 
As nanochickin suggests - is the dish aligned correctly?

The Dreambox tuner is weak and a dish that works well with another receiver doesn't always work with a Dreambox.

If your dish and cables are all OK I'd ask for a replacement.

Usually you can resolve the problem with a simple re flash.

Any new image will work.

You can try Nabilosat, S.I.F, Powerboard Enigma, Evolution 2.1, PLi or The Eagle Image which all work well on the DM500 :-worship

Avoid Gemini Images at all cost as they will more than likely damage your receiver.

Even though i know for a fact my DM600 is 100% Pukka Genuine i still won't go anywhere near Gemini images as i have lost total respect for the Gemini team and point blank refuse to use anything of theirs on my receiver :-Nooo

i have a big problem with my eagle box.... before i touched i had gemini image for about 2 years.... then somebody told me to put in nabilosat... and was not good then i put wlg image and my eagle box is blocked..... they told me to flash a new image with eagle v 4 but it will not let me execute the flash because i cannot get theip from my box... because is blocked.... when i restart i can see the WLG image but after nothing happen... everytime i try to flash the new image says FTP not connected..... please help me.... thanx in advance

I am also suffering frequent lockups and crashes on the DM500s running the PLI Jade image release 1.0.9, 27.06.2009, which require removal of the power plug. It seems to happen on encrypted channels, im not running a motor and dish and cable setup are fine, im running a standard minidish and official subscription in one room and the dream using same satellite but c/s from outside my network.. How do I check the free space in VAR and clear plugins and is this likely to be the answer?
